This illustrated chronicle is a “best of” (and “worst of”) our time exploring Panama. We’ve condensed our full-length reviews into these panels to show you the reality of a Central America adventure—warts, mosquitos, and all.
The Highs & Highlights
We didn’t just sit on the beach. We were kayaking the Panama Canal, dodging rainforest wildlife to witness Panama’s incredible biodiversity, and getting a caffeine kick on Boquete coffee tours. From the modern Panama City skyline to the adrenaline of waterfall abseiling and zip-lining, the “Good” was truly spectacular.
The Realities & Pitfalls
Being an honest Panama review, we couldn’t ignore the “Not-So-Good.” We’ve illustrated the high cost of travel in Panama, the crowded transportation, and the… ahem… unique sanitation and plumbing issues. Our budget travel took a beating, and the mosquitos in Bastimentos were practically a local militia.
The Verdict
Between learning Spanish in Panama, admiring the traditional Pollera dress, and comparing the Atlantic vs. Pacific coasts, it was an unforgettable trip. Whether you’re considering retirement in Panama or just a quick visit, it’s a place of beautiful contrasts.
