Getting to Saint-Léonard-de-Noblat

After taking in the culture and gastronomy of Bordeaux and Limoges, one of the highlights of our visit to South West France was a short stay in the remarkable heritage site of Saint-Léonard-de-Noblat.

Here, we had arranged a 4-night stay in Chateau Maleplane on the outskirts of the town.

Around Saint-Léonard-de-Noblat

The historic town of Saint-Léonard-de-Noblat is just 15 minutes walk from the Chateau. Here you can find a variety of small shops dotted around the small central square by the church.

We discovered a Brasserie with an open terrace – ideal for a few lazy afternoon drinks, with a pizza outlet just opposite.

Away from the center of town, you can find a large Carrefour with a huge range of food and drink (and some really good deals on local wines).

Eating Out in Saint-Léonard-de-Noblat

For dinner, there is Le Restaureau restaurant which offers a unique system of fixed-price dining.

You can choose one of their ‘formules’ ranging in price between €17.50 and €19.50.

These include a variety of mains (pave de beauf, mussels, meat skewer with individual sauces, fries and salad). In addition to this, you can choose as many individually packaged starters and deserts as you want! (and there is a good and very large choice).

Although there are limited activities in Saint-Léonard-de-Noblat, Limoges is only 20 kms away. Here you have a large variety of restaurants and events, including Les Puces de la Cité – the city’s famous flea market, where bargain hunters meet on the second Sunday of each month.
