✈️ In-transit through Rome Airports? Try Best Western Fiumicino

Traveling through Rome’s bustling airports can be both frustrating and challenging. Whether you’re on a layover or waiting for your next flight, finding a comfortable and convenient place to rest or layover is crucial.

In this article, we share our experiences and recommendations for Rome’s Fiumicino airport, including details about the Best Western Hotel Riviera Fiumicino as an ideal choice for in-transit travelers.

Gateway to Italy – Rome’s Airports

Rome boasts two major airports: Leonardo da Vinci-Fiumicino Airport (FCO) and Ciampino Airport (CIA). Both serve as gateways to the enchanting city and its surroundings. Navigating through these airports can be overwhelming, but fear not – we’ve found the perfect haven for a relaxing in-transit experience.

How We Handled Our Transit

Our trip to the Philippines was planned with a return flight to Fiumicino, near Rome. The flights back to Italy from the Philippines hit us a lot harder than the flights going there.

Even though we were flying with Emirates, we had a 5-hour stopover in Dubai which just extended the misery.

So once we arrived in Rome we were keen to find a hotel close to the airport. We planned to spend one night in Fiumicino to recover from our journey before returning to the airport and heading back to our home base in Malta the following day.

By the time we got to Rome, we were thankful we had only a short commute to our pre-booked hotel in Fiumicino. The Best Western Hotel Riviera Fiumicino (€51, breakfast included) was a good choice for a one night stop-gap.

Convenient Connectivity

One of the standout features of Best Western Fiumicino is its proximity to the airport. A short shuttle ride ensures a stress-free journey between the hotel and Leonardo da Vinci-Fiumicino Airport.

The convenience of this connection allows travelers to maximize their in-transit time, making it an excellent choice for those with tight layovers.

One of the reasons for choosing the Best Western Hotel Riviera Fiumicino was because the hotel operates a van shuttle service between the airport and the hotel for just €6 per person.

All we wanted was a shower and a doze in a comfortable bed, and that’s exactly what we got.

Best Western Fiumicino caters to a variety of travelers, from solo adventurers to families on vacation. The well-appointed rooms provide a cozy atmosphere to unwind, with modern amenities ensuring a pleasant stay. Whether you need a good night’s sleep or a quick power nap, the comfortable beds and soundproof rooms guarantee a peaceful rest.

We checked into the hotel in the late afternoon. After settling in we wandered around the seafront promenade in search of any likely-looking restaurants.

Restaurants Close to the Hotel

Most of the restaurants are located along the promenade north of the hotel. We found several good restaurant candidates, including the BBQ Fiumicino and the Old Wild West Fiumicino.

In the end, we opted for the Rosso Corallo restaurant, where we ate steak with some local Italian wine. After spending several weeks surviving on bland Filipino food, we were more than ready for a decent Italian meal.

Dinner for two was good and came to less than €50.

The next morning, we enjoyed our first European breakfast in the hotel, and there was plenty of choice on what to eat. After getting used to the Philippines style of breakfast, we felt very indulged.
